What It Is:

Palm oil is commonly used to make surfactants in consumer products. BIO-IOS is a proprietary and sustainable surfactant technology that extracts palm oil from remnant material.

What It’s For:

Globally, palm trees are a food source and are used as the base of traditional detergent and soap surfactants. For years, palm oil has been harvested from palm trees for product use. Historically the farming practices used led to deforestation and increased pollution in the local communities. In Japanese culture, waste is unacceptable, and resourcefulness is a way of life. That sensibility inspired our breakthrough BIO-IOS palm oil technology. BIO-IOS is obtained from the palm kernel using a breakthrough process so that it doesn’t compete with food production.

What It Does:

BIO-IOS technology uses “the unusable.” Other surfactants are developed from the liquid that comes from within the fruit. This is also where most of the palm oils used for cooking and in food products are obtained. BIO-IOS is obtained from the kernel, the seed of the fruit. It does not compete for food production.
